Frequently Asked Questions
-
What data sources are used for the rating?
We use vacancy and resume data from two main platforms: HeadHunter (hh.ru) and Habr Career. Data is collected monthly using a parser that accesses public endpoints of these platforms. The rating is based on vacancy demand, while resumes are used as a market supply signal.
-
How often is the rating updated?
The rating is updated monthly. We collect fresh data from all sources, recalculate metrics, and publish updated technology positions. This allows us to track current trends and changes in the industry.
-
How is the final rating calculated?
For each technology category, we apply statistical Z-score normalization to the logarithm of vacancy counts. Resumes are used separately as a supply signal: if a technology has many more candidates at comparable demand, the rating gets a small downward balance; if candidates are scarce, the balance raises the score. The final rating ranges from 3 to 50 points.
-
Why are technologies divided into categories?
Different types of technologies solve different tasks, and it is incorrect to compare a programming language with a database or framework. Division into categories (programming languages, frameworks, libraries, databases, etc.) allows for fair comparison of technologies within their class and seeing leaders in each area.
-
Is this rating only for Russia?
Yes, the rating is focused on the Russian job market. We collect vacancy and resume data from Russian platforms (HeadHunter and Habr Career), so the rating reflects technology demand and supply in Russia, not globally.
-
Can I add a technology to the rating?
If you cannot find a technology you are interested in the rating, you can suggest adding it through the feedback form or contact us on Telegram. We review all suggestions and add technologies that appear on the job market and have active usage on HeadHunter or Habr Career.
