Frequently Asked Questions
-
What data sources are used for the rating?
We use job vacancy data from hh.ru and other platforms to calculate technology ratings. In addition, we plan to integrate other sources: GitHub activity (number of repositories, stars, commits), questions and discussions on Stack Overflow, and package/library download statistics. Integrations with GitHub, Stack Overflow and other platforms are currently in active development. All metrics are normalized and combined into a single popularity index.
-
How often is the rating updated?
The rating is updated monthly. We collect fresh data from all sources, recalculate metrics, and publish updated technology positions. This allows us to track current trends and changes in the industry.
-
How is the final rating calculated?
For each technology, we collect data across various metrics (GitHub activity, vacancies, discussions, etc.). We then apply statistical normalization (Z-score) to bring all indicators to a unified scale. The final rating is a weighted sum of normalized metrics, where each indicator has its own importance coefficient.
-
Why are technologies divided into categories?
Different types of technologies solve different tasks, and it is incorrect to compare a programming language with a database or framework. Division into categories (programming languages, frameworks, libraries, databases, etc.) allows for fair comparison of technologies within their class and seeing leaders in each area.
-
Is this rating only for Russia?
The main focus is on the Russian market - we consider vacancies on Russian platforms and the activity of the Russian-speaking community. However, many metrics (GitHub, Stack Overflow) are global. This allows us to see both worldwide trends and the specifics of the Russian development market.

Can I add a technology to the rating?
If you cannot find a technology you are interested in the rating, you can suggest adding it through the feedback form or GitHub Issues of our project. We review all suggestions and add technologies that have sufficient popularity and active usage.
